Staff augmentation, dedicated teams or projects: pick how much you own
The models differ in who directs the work day to day and who is accountable for the result. Many clients use more than one.
Quick answer
What is the difference between staff augmentation and a dedicated team?
In staff augmentation, individual engineers join your team and your managers direct their daily work, so you own the outcome. In a dedicated team, also called an offshore development center (ODC), the partner runs a stable team with its own lead and delivery manager on your roadmap, so accountability is shared. A fixed-scope project goes further: the partner owns delivery of an agreed outcome.
The spectrum
How the models differ
Staff augmentation
Engineers join your team and work in your tools and ceremonies. Your managers set priorities. NTech handles hiring, employment and support.
- Start with one person
- Scale up or down as work changes
- Best when you have strong internal leads
Dedicated team / ODC
A stable team in India working only for you, with an NTech tech lead and delivery manager. You set the roadmap; we run the team.
- Team knowledge stays with your product
- Named lead accountable for delivery
- Best for ongoing product or data work
Fixed-scope project
An agreed outcome with scope, milestones and acceptance criteria. NTech owns delivery, led by a principal architect.
- Snowflake migrations and cost reviews
- Clear budget and timeline
- Best for well-defined work

FAQ
Questions buyers ask us
What is an offshore development center (ODC)?
An ODC is a dedicated team in another country that works only for one client, run by the partner as an extension of the client's company, with its own lead and delivery manager.
Can we switch from staff augmentation to a dedicated team later?
Yes. Many clients start with one or two augmented engineers and move to a dedicated team once the work is steady.
Which model is best for a Snowflake migration?
A fixed-scope project or a dedicated team. Migrations have a clear end state, so a partner that owns delivery and reconciliation usually finishes faster than individually augmented engineers.
